The Rosetta spacecraft that deployed the robot currently sitting on a comet has detected a series of whistling clicks coming from the giant rock.
Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko’s “song” is emitted far below the range of human hearing, but researchers have converted it to a higher frequency.
The result sounds like a combination of the alien communication in M. Night Shyamalan’s “Signs” and what you hear when you put your ear to a seashell.
According to CTV News, the sounds come from regular movements in the comet’s magnetic field.
They were first picked up last August when Rosetta was conducting a magnetometer experiment about 60 miles away from the comet.
