Last Friday, a loose chihuahua was running across lanes of zipping traffic on Interstate 680 just outside of San Francisco. Two highway patrol officers responded to the calls about the poor thing and found it stranded, shaking, on the concrete median between lanes.
They petted it and gave it trail mix until animal services arrived, since they had no way to transport the dog themselves on their motorcycles.
The shelter that took the anonymous pup into its care has already received dozens of calls offering to take the animal in. They want to remind everyone that even though this little creature is taken care of, there are hundreds of others that need to be adopted whose stories aren’t getting national media attention.
Alex Edmon, one of the dog’s rescuers says…
Animal control has already been inundated with calls for this particular dog because of the story, but don’t be discouraged if you can’t get this exact dog, look for other dogs out there.
