Trust Me When I Say You"re Gonna Want To See What This Epic Friendship Trio Does. OMG.

A lion, tiger and bear (named Leo, Shere Khan and Baloo respectively) were living a terrible life of abuse at the hands of a drug dealer. They were found as helpless cubs, starving and full of parasites, in an Atlanta home’s basement during a drug bust. They were whisked away from that terrible place and began their rehabilitation at Noah’s Ark, in Locust Grove, Georgia. Each had their own health issues, but together they healed and grew as friends.

Both Leo and Shere Khan had infection issues and were malnourished…

But Baloo was in the worst condition of them all.

He was kept in a harness from a young age, but it was never loosened as he grew. It required surgery to remove.

During his surgery was the only time the three brothers were ever separated.

Now the trio, affectionately named “BLT,” spend all of their time together.

They grew into three healthy adults.

They even live in the same enclosure, which is rare.

But because of their friendship from such an early age, it suits them.

All three are males; Leo never grew a mane because he was neutered at such a young age.

They are truly inseparable.

They survived a terrible experience together, creating incredible bonds of love.

These three know what is important.

And that’s spending time with those you love.

(H/T Twisted Sifter) The Noah’s Ark Animal Sanctuary is a non-profit organization that has saved countless animals, but is currently home to over 1,500 creatures of varying species. The 250 acre sanctuary rescues and provides homes for the abused, abandoned or neglected animals they find. If you’re in Georgia, you should stop by. If not, visit this page to find out ways you can help their cause.

Nothing To See Here. Just A Woman Walking A Polar Bear Through Tokyo.

Outlandish stunts or promotions isn’t anything new in Japan…but I haven’t seen anything like this before. The other day a woman was walking her “pet” around the streets of Tokyo, to the sheer amazement of everyone around her. Most were wondering how this was even possible:

The woman didn’t say a word, but was seen wearing a shirt with the word “LALSH” printed on it. “LALSH” turns out to belong to an as-yet unspecified group from Russia, according to Facebook. We’re guessing this was an amazing publicity stunt, and suspect that it may not be a real bear after all. (Although, c’mon, that thing looks good.)

Well…I certainly haven’t seen anything like that before.

Photographer In Protective Box Has Close Encounter With A Polar Bear

Photographer Gordon Buchanan traveled to the Arctic to document a polar bear family for the BBC2‘s upcoming special, My Polar Bear Family and Me.

While in a special protective cage similar in concept to an above ground shark cage, a very hungry polar bear caught a whiff of his scent.

Though she never ended up breaking into the ‘ice cube,’ her vicious 45 minute attempt “was one of the most terrifying things that I’ve ever done,” reports the Scottish artist.

This Pansexual Student Has Been Forced To Extreme Measures By Her Parents

This+Pansexual+Student+Has+Been+Forced+To+Extreme+Measures+By+Her+Parents

Kate Koenig is a 19-year-old student at the University of Pittsburgh. Kate self-identifies as pansexual, and her boyfriend is a transgender man.

Last Autumn, Kate’s parents found out by going through her mail that she was attracted to women and had been dating a transgender man, so they cut her off financially. Now, Kate is turning to the Internet to continue funding her college education: specifically, GoFundMe, where she’s started a campaign to help her stay at Pitt.

According to a YouTube video Kate posted  her parents found out she identified as pansexual by going through her mail and reading her blog. When she came home for a visit during first semester, her parents told her they had something to tell her: They knew she was pansexual and her boyfriend was trans.

“My family, including extended family, is extremely homophobic,” Kate wrote on her GoFundMe page. “After they found out, my parents cut me off financially and I am no longer living with them.” Although Kate’s parents agreed to cosign a loan on her behalf for the spring semester, “they are both unwilling and unable” to do it for the rest of her tuition.

Since then, Kate has been trying to raise money for her Pitt tuition on social media, starting a hashtag called #KeepKateInCollege. (She says she’s enrolled in a community college for the time being, and will start attending classes there in the fall). She launched her GoFundMe page last week, as a “last ditch effort” to keep her in school.

Kate says that while she’s already saved money from her summer job and has a $6500 school loan, she needs an additional $15,000 for tuition, food, rent, and to help cover her allergy and asthma medication.

“Going to Pitt is a dream of mine and I couldn’t bear the thought of not being able to stay there,” she writes on her GoFundMe page. “I am majoring in English and History and minoring in German with the hope of becoming a novelist. I will be immensly [sic] grateful if your contributions allow me to stay at Pitt. I’m praying every day for a miracle to help make this possible.”

The outlook is positive for Kate. Moved by her story, Kate’s supporters have been donating to her GoFundMe page and leaving inspirational messages in droves.   In one week, she’s raised $11,000 of her $15,000 intended target.
