Finally! A Social Media Site With No Ads, Pictures, Words, Colors, Or Content [UPDATE]

Could Facebook finally be finished? We would have said you were crazy, until we saw Zylch.

What is Zylch? It’s only the newest social media site everyone is buzzing about. If you’ve seen a lot of your friends posting about leaving Facebook for Zylch, you’re not alone: Zylch boasts a social media experience free of ads, sponsored posts, words, pictures, or content of any kind.

Here’s a look at Zylch.co:

Yup. Zylch boasts a clean, simple interface free from clutter and content. Don’t worry about brands jamming your feed on Zylch, because brands are banned from posting anything, as are regular users. Zylch’s mission statement says it all:

Are you sick of brands, corporations, pictures, and words cluttering your social media experience? So are we, and so we did something about it. Come to Zylch, and enjoy what social media really should be about: nothing.

There has already been a big groundswell of support for Zylch:

So far, there seems to be no invite necessary to get started on Zylch, primarily because there are no login screens or accounts of any kind. Founder Chris Davidson explained the site’s philosophy:

“Ads? Selling data to corporations? Sending messages to your friends? These are all the old ways of doing things,” Davidson told us. “Here at Zylch, our goal was to distill social media to what it’s really all about. And we’re pretty sure we did it.”

We can’t help but agree. Will you join Zylch? Let us know!

UPDATE: Well, it seems like the folks at Zylch have already retooled the site! Check out the new and improved Zylch home page below!

Looks like they’re attempting to keep the site’s clean and simple design while experimenting with a slightly different aesthetic. What do you think? Is Zylch.co even better, or has it sold out?

Groom Demands Divorce On His Wedding Day, You Won’t Believe Why

Groom+Demands+Divorce+On+His+Wedding+Day%2C+You+Won%26%238217%3Bt+Believe+Why

An unhappy groom told his bride he wanted a divorce as she lifted her veil to reveal her face for the first time.

The couple had not met before the arranged marriage, and were about to pose for pictures after walking down the aisle when it took a turn for the worse.

The husband jumped to his feet and yelled: “You are not the girl I imagined. I’m sorry –  but I divorce you.”

Unsurprisingly, the bride didn’t take it well. She is understood to have collapsed in hysterics. Wedding guests stepped in to try and resolve the situation, although what you can do or say to fix things after that, we’re not too sure.

It is the custom in some Middle Eastern countries, as this couple did in the town of Medinah, to agree to marry despite having never seen each other in person.

There was an immediate backlash against the groom, with one friend posting: “He caused her great pain through his irresponsible attitude, and he deserves to suffer.

“He should appreciate that beauty is in the character, not the face.”

The world feels full of possibility the moment you dig into a salad. Look at me being one of those people who eats salad. I’m really one of them. This is such an innocent time. You’re starting a new, salad-filled chapter of your life and you’re just one of those people who has it together. At this point, you really believe this will be a fulfilling and delicious lunch. Like a fool.

2. Pride

You are literally the healthiest person in the world. Gwyneth Paltrow saw you eating the salad and thought, “I’ll never live up to that.”

As the goodies like avocado and cheese and protein start to dwindle, you wonder if this bowl of leaves will really be enough. What have you done? Did you really think this bowl of random stuff could make you happy?

4. Panic

You were put in charge of selecting your own lunch and you chose poorly. Lunch is important and you effed it up big time. And now you’ll have to live with the consequences for the rest of the day.

Why did I do this to myself? The salad dressing is turning the sadness parade that is this “lunch” into a congealed ball of green mush. How does this count as food? There has to be a better way. THERE HAS TO BE A BETTER WAAAAAAAAAY.

6. Black Hole of Sadness

This salad was like $12 and nothing matters anymore. What is lunch anyway? Just an opportunity to have your heart broken. That’s all it is.

This Pansexual Student Has Been Forced To Extreme Measures By Her Parents

This+Pansexual+Student+Has+Been+Forced+To+Extreme+Measures+By+Her+Parents

Kate Koenig is a 19-year-old student at the University of Pittsburgh. Kate self-identifies as pansexual, and her boyfriend is a transgender man.

Last Autumn, Kate’s parents found out by going through her mail that she was attracted to women and had been dating a transgender man, so they cut her off financially. Now, Kate is turning to the Internet to continue funding her college education: specifically, GoFundMe, where she’s started a campaign to help her stay at Pitt.

According to a YouTube video Kate posted  her parents found out she identified as pansexual by going through her mail and reading her blog. When she came home for a visit during first semester, her parents told her they had something to tell her: They knew she was pansexual and her boyfriend was trans.

“My family, including extended family, is extremely homophobic,” Kate wrote on her GoFundMe page. “After they found out, my parents cut me off financially and I am no longer living with them.” Although Kate’s parents agreed to cosign a loan on her behalf for the spring semester, “they are both unwilling and unable” to do it for the rest of her tuition.

Since then, Kate has been trying to raise money for her Pitt tuition on social media, starting a hashtag called #KeepKateInCollege. (She says she’s enrolled in a community college for the time being, and will start attending classes there in the fall). She launched her GoFundMe page last week, as a “last ditch effort” to keep her in school.

Kate says that while she’s already saved money from her summer job and has a $6500 school loan, she needs an additional $15,000 for tuition, food, rent, and to help cover her allergy and asthma medication.

“Going to Pitt is a dream of mine and I couldn’t bear the thought of not being able to stay there,” she writes on her GoFundMe page. “I am majoring in English and History and minoring in German with the hope of becoming a novelist. I will be immensly [sic] grateful if your contributions allow me to stay at Pitt. I’m praying every day for a miracle to help make this possible.”

The outlook is positive for Kate. Moved by her story, Kate’s supporters have been donating to her GoFundMe page and leaving inspirational messages in droves.   In one week, she’s raised $11,000 of her $15,000 intended target.

You can watch her video here
