The photo-sharing app Snapchat is usually used to share goofy selfies and pet pictures, not record violent sexual acts.
A Saugus, MA, mother alleges that her 16-year-old daughter was drugged and raped, and her attackers filmed the whole event using Snapchat.
She told press that she wants the rapists publicly punished.
She said,
I want justice, I don’t want this to go away, I want them to pay for what they did.
When a friend of the rapists opened the video, which disappeared after 10 seconds, he or she recognized the girl and called the police.
Her mother says the girl would never have survived if the friend hadn’t called emergency services.
She said,
She had fingerprints, at least two hands held down by her throat. Her breasts were bruised, her whole body was ripped, shredded, [there were] broken toes.
The teenage girl had been violently assaulted, stripped and left for dead, but she can’t remember any of the night’s events.
Police have reportedly arrested two teenage suspects, an 18-year-old man and 17-year-old girl, and are searching for the third, 19-year-old Rashad Deihim.
The press release indicates that Deihim is wanted on “charges of assault with intent to rape, kidnapping, indecent assault and battery on a person age 14 or older and posing or exhibiting a child in a sexual act.”
