Tumblr is continuing to divide up its popular Fashion vertical, breaking out a new Spotlight section for Accessories on Tuesday.
The new section is sponsored by Cole Haan (which, by the by, was acquired by a private equity firm for $570 million from Nike earlier this month). Cole Haan’s Tumblr blog, which features photographs of fashionable urbanites on New York City subways, is showcased at the top of the page. Blogs from other accessories-focused brands, including Jason Wu and Dannijo, are also featured.
Fashion is Tumblr’s most popular vertical — approximately 20 of Tumblr’s top 100 blogs are fashion-related, a spokesperson for the startup confirmed to Mashable. Late last year, Tumblr decided to break up the vertical into new Spotlight categories. The first of these was for Beauty in mid-2011, followed up by Street Style, which was launched in partnership with Burberry in October.
Tumblr is one of the 10 most-visited sites in the U.S. with 61 million unique monthly visitors, according to Quantcast.
