Select A Track – For Karaoke Downloads

It is the end of University for many students up and down the country this month, and why not celebrate the end of an era with an old-school Karaoke party? Combine a little bit of Ella Henderson with some Blink 182 or even some S Club 7 and recreate a mash up between the old school disco and the current songs doing the rounds in the clubs.

The most difficult part of organizing a karaoke party is, surprise surprise, actually finding songs for people to sing. If you have a very specific idea of what songs you want at your party then it might be cheapest to go to a karaoke downloads site which will let you download individual songs or let you combine them all onto a CD. If you find the right karaoke downloads site you can even get specific formats which will then display the words etc. on your ipod/ laptop.

Most decent karaoke downloads sites will give you a variety of different formats to choose from, just make sure that you download the correct one for your ipod, laptop or mp3! Here are some 90s/2000s songs for you to consider!

3. 5, 6, 7, 8- Steps

Video available at: http://youtube.com/watch?v=4NO-h9PFum4.

Bonus points if you remember the dance! This song was a staple of any primary school disco! The words are simple and the ‘rap’ requires no singing at all, making it perfect for someone who is nervous of singing in front of a group of people.

4. Keep on Moving- Five

Video available at: http://youtube.com/watch?v=muR6vt4ONUM.

Again, minimal singing ability is needed here! This positive song will instantly transport you back to the late 90s/ early 2000s where you would get all hyped up on all the sweets and fizzy drinks and then bring your ultimate dance moves into the school hall! The words are easy to remember and hold a special meaning to keep on going despite Uni coming to an end.

5. What’s My Age Again- Blink 182

Video available at: http://youtube.com/watch?v=K7l5ZeVVoCA.

Moving away from the pop now and there was the likes of Blink 182 and Sum 41, marking for many the move away from bubble-gum pop into what some people like to refer to as ‘real music’. The line “My friends say I should act my age, What’s my age again?” has never seemed more relevant!

6. Teenage Dirtbag- Wheatus

Video available at: http://youtube.com/watch?v=FC3y9llDXuM.

Shall we just ignore that One Direction chose to do a cover of this? Okay? Good. Now let’s just focus on a song which, for many, came to be the song of their early teenage years? Even now the song takes me back! The best bit? If your voice can’t handle the high bits it just adds to the song!

7. Stacy’s Mom- Fountains of Wayne

Video available at: http://youtube.com/watch?v=FC3y9llDXuM.

You may have sensed a pattern with these songs by now! The best way to enjoy yourself at a karaoke party is to not take yourselves seriously! This was what the 90s/ 2000s were all about and what they should be celebrated for! Celebrate the end of Uni with some iconic good time songs from the not so distant past.
