The Ramen Donut Straddles The Line Between Delicious And Disgusting (Photos)

Don’t get me wrong: I love me some ramen.

And I’m game for food mashups, too (cronuts, anyone?). But there’s a fine line between delicious and horrifying, and the newest creation by Culinary Bro-Down’s Josh Scherer leans further on the “gross” scale than we’d like.

What is this creation, you may ask?

The ramen donut, which also goes by the charmingly abbreviated term “ramnut.”

It’s exactly what you think it is — a donut, in which the “dough” is replaced by compacted ramen noodles.

Like a regular donut, the noodle creation is then filled (jelly and Boston creme are among the filling options) and frosted.

Lest you brush this off as a joke, Scherer confirms,

I’m very serious about this sh*t.

I’m still more disgusted by this unexpected mashup than anything, but who knows — maybe it’s fantastic.

If you’d like to find out for yourself, you can make your own versions courtesy of this recipe.
