Seventeen year old Wesley Sousa made an impressive model excavator that works as good as any professionally built one. 

But instead of buying a kit or using expensive electronics parts, his working model is comprised of just wood, simple plastic tubing, and plastic syringes that he pushes in and out to manipulate the contraption.
