"Colbert Report" Sendoff Proves How Much America Has Stayed The Same (Video)

Last night was the final episode of “The Colbert Report,” and soon-to-be “Late Show” host Stephen Colbert ended his spectacular nine-year run by reminding us that not much has changed since the show’s debut.


Colbert’s last segment of “The Word” was almost as depressing as it was hilarious, highlighting some of the comedian’s proudest moments while commenting on the government’s inability to evolve.



The show closed with a star-studded goodbye to the tune of Sesame Street’s “We’ll meet again.”


Randy Newman manned the piano while everyone from James Franco and Mark Cuban to Bill Clinton suddenly appeared to sing their appreciation for the brilliant political satirist.



Colbert will replace David Letterman next September.


Taking over Colbert’s Comedy Central time slot in January will be “Daily Show” correspondent Larry Wilmore with “The Minority Report.”
